Club Quadball Brochure

In 2018 for my final project in my digital media class, I had to design a brochure for a client in need of something to enhance their business/organization. I chose to support my school’s Quidditch (now Quadball) club team by designing a brochure to assist in recruitment.

Software Used:

  • Adobe InDesign

  • Adobe Photoshop

Process

After receiving the assignment from my professor, the design process began with initial communications with the Quidditch staff members. I provided basic sketches of the layouts I was envisioning, largely inspired by the university’s overarching technical aesthetic. Once we settled on a design, I collected assets including photographs and icons, and assembled the first few drafts. After some back and forth on color choices, we had a functional document that was used during recruitment opportunities on NC State’s campus for the years following.

In 2023, I reviewed the design I had created with a far more critical eye. After a few years in the field, I insisted that I could refresh the design with something more visually compelling and current. After reworking my 2018 design, I reached out to the team’s current staff to collaborate with updated graphics and assets and am currently awaiting their response.

Takeaways

Quadball was an integral part of my college experience, so I was more than delighted to create something I felt a strong personal connection with. It gave me a further sense of purpose on the team. This feeling would replicate itself in future projects while working for 4-H and I fully anticipate my future projects to magnify that effect. It is also the primary driving force behind updating the design and reigniting my interest in Quadball. To learn more about the sport, check out the USQ webpage on how to play!
